Is layer separation the same as warping?

No. Warping is the part lifting off the bed (a bed-adhesion problem at the base). Layer separation is layers splitting in the middle of the print (an interlayer-bond problem). Different fixes: warping needs better bed grip and slower first layers; separation needs higher temp, less cooling, and drier filament.

Can I glue a delaminated 3D print back together?

Super glue (cyanoacrylate) or two-part epoxy can hold light, non-loaded parts, but the joint will be weaker than a fused layer and won’t match the original interlayer strength. For any load-bearing or functional use, reprint instead.

Does a higher infill stop layer separation?

Accepted Answer

Infill helps only if the separation is from too-thin walls or sparse fill. If the cause is temperature or moisture, more infill won’t help — the bond between layers is still weak. Fix the root cause first, then tune infill.

Why do my layers separate only at the corners?

Corners cool fastest and get the least dwell time, so they’re the first to delaminate. Lower speed around corners (enable “slow down at corners” if your slicer has it), raise temperature slightly, and reduce cooling on the first layers.

Is layer separation more common with resin or FDM prints?

It’s mostly an FDM/FFF issue from poor interlayer welding. Resin (SLA/DLP) can “delaminate” too, but the usual cause is under-curing or a contaminated resin vat rather than temperature. For resin, increase cure time and keep the vat clean.

How do I know if my nozzle temperature is actually correct?

Use a temperature tower and a calibrated thermistor. Many printers read a few degrees off. If layers split at the recommended temp, the real temp may be lower than reported — raise it 5–10 °C and retest.
